Contract term: Casual

We are looking to recruit supply Nursery Nurses to join our Bureau of casual workers. Do you have the ability to cover vacancies at short notice, and provide a friendly and professional service for our Nurseries and Children’s Centres in and around the Stockport area?
Working on a supply basis can be very demanding; but it can be very rewarding too. It involves going into Nursery settings for short-term placements, usually to cover staff absence. Placements can be as short as half a day or as long as a full school term.

In order to join our pool of workers you will need the following skills and experience:
• NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent as a minimum requirement
• A good theoretical and working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage, getting involved in group activities and promoting 'Learning Through Play'
• At least 3 months previous work experience in a similar childcare environment and be able to provide suitable references
• Committed to maintaining high standards in childcare
• Meeting and greeting Children, and providing support during mealtimes
• Carrying out observation and recording documentation and providing feedback to parents
• Flexible, responsible and reliable
• Caring and friendly
• Work in line with all OFSTED requirements

The roles carried out by our Nursery Nurses vary from planning day to day activities, carrying out observations and providing feedback, to working directly with children under five and their families in the Children’s Centres and other venues across the Children Centre ‘Reach Area. During the summer our Children’s Centres provide activities for children ranging from birth to 11years of age, experience in working with older children would be beneficial but is not essential.

Safeguarding training and an Induction session will be provided for applicants prior to working within the Children’s Centres.
Benefits in working for Stockport Council:
• Paid at the same rate you’d be paid at if you were working on a contract
• Have your own individual webpage which you can use 24 hours a day, seven days week to view and accept available work
This a rolling recruitment exercise so there is no closing date.
